You may have to do a search, but was it Laz Mesa who posted that he uses a Holley 800cfm carb on his marine natually aspirated 555cid engines??? These engines have ported aluminum heads, 9.5comp ratio, hyd roller cam that he claims dyno tested to about 740hp or so @5800rpm. If I am wrong then someone please correct me. You can call Laz to find out for sure.

I have seen 750 at 5000+- with a 950 4150 flange carb on a 582 with a pretty mild cam.
I use DC Carbs to just build what I am looking for in a carb instead of buying a holley and modifying it.
Used to be DaVinci carbs back in the day. Pretty knowedgable carb guy. I have seen his stuff pick up 50HP on the dyno from an off the shelf holley. Of course this was big displacement engine all ready at 650HP.
