Default 500efi-575sci

Does anyone have oem specs on both? Mercury Racing no longer has them on their website. Do they have the same rods, block and heads but different pistons, cam, lifters and accesories?

500 EFI's have 8.75:1 compression and hyd roller cams,
575's have 7.5:1 compression and flat tappet hyd cams.

575's have manley H-beam rods, as I recall, the first
500EFI's had GM rods, the later used Manleys

Both have GM rec port heads.

The 500 EFI is MPI...The 575 is TBI

Hope that helps

Thanks, that helps a little. A freind of mine here has a shop and his personal boat is a 2003 w/ 500efi's, he had to go into one and said it had the h-beams with mercury racing in the side. He said he has also pulled apart 575sci's from a customers 42 Lighning and they had standard rod like a 502efi/mpi. Just trying to set the record straight. I am looking at buying a 2003 36 Spectre w/ 575sci's and wanted to know for sure.

Check these conn. rod part #'s out

this is from the first s/n batch of 500EFI's

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...iston+Assembly
( part # 614-9641t)

this is the next batch.....the rest of the production shows this
# also
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...ler+Components
( part # 614-8m8020323)

This is a 575

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...ler+Components

It uses the same part # rod throughout the production run,
and is the same part # as what the 500EFI's used after
the first batch
( part # 614-8m8020323)

The 614-9641t is the same part # used in HP500's
which used GM rods

Go for it......575's are a great engine....you
wont be dissapointed.
