Question 2000, 502 mag?

how good are these motors? the 415 mpi motors?

i here mixed things about the 502, but most people down he carb 502 not the mpi.
anything to look out for?

ps, how fast would the stock motor push a 27 fever?

solid as a piece of granite. They do vapor lock if it has the VST. have seen them go 800-900 hours without a rebuild. If you run it out quite a bit then refresh the heads every 300 hours.

ok,cool. im not sure but like i said i have heard people say the 502 is iffy, but i dont know why.
seems like they are good tho

as he said solid as a rock if they have the vst they do vapor lock after or during a long idle, but there is ways around that

Default 502mpi mag

i have a 27fever w/502mpi.best thing about it is,get in it start it up,it idles,good dock maners,and gets great gas millage,2.5to3miles per gallon at 45mph.not the fastest boat,but super reliable.

The 2000 is not a VST motor its cool fuel,,, much better,,,,, darn thing will run 1000 + hours taken care of.

I would guess upper 60's low 70's in a 27'

They tend to use a little oil, but I reduced the oil consumption on mine by switching to mobil 1 15-50.

2000 engines have cool fuel and don't have the vapor locking problem. Mine have 320 hrs and run perfect.

I have 1997 502 mags with about 370 hours and still run great.
Other than maintenance the only thing I had to do is replace both engine
water recirculating pumps because they were leaking.
