Default bravo shift cable adjusment

just replaced my lower shift cable/boot and wondering if anybody has a way to adj the cable without the 2 merc tools ? thanks Rob

Measure the lengh on the rod end from the old cable.The merc tooling is just a calibrated plastic insert. Most merc mechanics have several in there tool boxes. You may be able to borrow one locally.

There is another tool that its used to set the length for the barrel before drive is installed.

It is important to find exact center for neutral. Not sure how successful you will be.

The way is to use the toll because it needs to be checked in foward gear,nutral, and reverse. Without the tool you're just wasting time and take a very big chance on damage the upper end include gears and shift fork.
