need help. 502 mag mpi
hello everybody. i have a 502 mag mpi in my boat and it was running grate, last year i wanted some more power, and i was told that the best upgrade for my engine is to have a procharger kit and it fits stock engines with no modification needed so i bought m1sc kit, and it was very eazy to be installed, ( but since that time my engine cant run more than one houre before the cylinder head gasket blows) i changed the gaskit three times and last i installed a coper gasket, but the same probllem always. my frinde installed a wide band on the exhost and told me that i have a lean mixture on all rpm's.
i dont know what to do now. and i'll be thankfull for any help ,
please i want every one who know about this to post hear.

I'm not an expert but I bought a boat with Prochargers a couple years ago. The previous owner had already hurt the engines in my boat before I bought it. I removed and sold them because of it.
The computer needs to be re-tuned to account for the blower. It won't fix the head gasket problem, but it will correct the lean condition that is slowly tearing your internals apart. (btw: IMO, Procharger has had the least success with tuning compared to other blowers)

Send the computer out to get reprogramed. Also you need to use the new Felpro triple layer gaskets, they are the best we used, almost imposable to blow out, and while your changing the gasket get a set of head studs. You should be good to go!

Marwan -
quick question. What was your fuel psi at WOT ?
Underlying question to that - although would like to know the answer to the above too - is do you have a fuel psi gauge you watch ? You need a fuel psi gauge to make sure that your fuel system is working correctly. Rigging can play havoc with getting proper psi.
Without proper psi you can burn headgaskets in a second/seconds/minutes. Depending on how low it is.

They've been out and installed on 502MPI's since the dinausors roamed this earth. Go learn from others on what they've run into and what the fixes where.
Mine was lack of support/knowledge from ATI. It took me to re-rig the fuel system to my knowledge and standards and forget what ATI says is acceptable and their preferred way. LOL.

I had the same problem but with the end result with #6 piston melted, I put H beam rods seed pro pistons head studs and opened up the combution chambers to kill compression, put a larger cam I don't have the spec handy but can get them if u want, with some computer programing the motor made 747hp at 5400 been running strong for 2 seasons
