Default Dry sump ?

Is it worth to spend the money for a dry sump system ?
Building a 598 natuarlly aspirated. 6000 to 6200 rpm.
If so is a 3 stage pump ok. and what would be the gain. Thanks

the performance "gains" are minimal. the advantages are , for the most part, that it makes for a bullet proof oiling system. with no oil in the pan there are no windage losses but more important, there is no crank beating and whipping the oil. the scavange can create a small negative pressure which is good for a minimal performance gain. the oil is stopred in a tank that, if properly designed, makes oil pressure drop in hi g situations a memory.

all in all , for a high hp motor that will see serious use, it is essential. if you are cruising or just short blasts then it is probably overkill. drysump is made to solve DYNAMIC oiling issues. not nominal oiling issues.
