Default Can an engine from a boat with a speedmaster be installed in a boat w/ a bravo drive

Looking at a used engine from a boat with a speedmaster III ( i believe) drive. Can that engine be installed in a boat with a bravo 1 drive without modification??

Thank for the help.

The speedmaster drive needs a transmission between the engine and drive. The Bravo doesn't. So unless I'm missing something here then the answer is yes you can use the motor.

i think you will need a bravo bellhousing for the engine instead of teh one for eth SM and tranny. You should be able to sell eth old SSM stuff though if it comes with the engine

You need to use a block mounted starter and a flywheel with the ring gear on the front, Bravo flywheel housing, and an engine coupler.

Cool

Pricing on parts needed to do the coversion will run you approx
$1,384.00.
Which includes:
Engine Coupler
Flwheel
Flywheel Hsg
Starter
Bravo Shift Bracket

Powerguy, you can do it for much less than that. You can do without the flywheel, just move the ring gear. There was a thread about this recently. If you want send me an email and I will work up the numbers for new parts, but I bet you can find most of what you need on this board. If you want you can look at some diagrams at 500 EFI

Hey Powerguy,
Yes Mbam is 100% right you can do the conversion cheaper if you run into a Mercuiser dealer willing to sell at just over cost.

You should be able to find all the parts used, though I would go for a new coupler and starter.
