throttle/shifter swap
Wondering if anyone can give me some insight. I am going
to switch from a late 80's Quicksilver shifter/throttle
for a single engine to a Gaffrig or similar style setup.
Curious to see if I need to buy extra parts like new cables,
or cable ends.

Hey Chadd!
First off the cutout size is very different between the Quicksilver and Gaffrig you will have to make an adapter plate. Also you will have to swap out your cables to a style that has a 10/32 thread on the end. The attaching hardware for the controil comes with it. You will have to purchase attaching hardware for the engine side.

Chadd, you will need 3300 style cables to work with Gaffrigs. Then a Merc engine connection kit. All of it is available from Teleflex. If you want the best-go with the TFXtreme cables-they are smooth as warm butter on a model's butt-even with a 27 foot run and some serious bends. Try www.boatfix.com for prices-they have the best around.

Puder, I got bad news for you. BTW-did you get my check??? The Gaffrigs use a small loop on the end of the cable. But you need a 3300 style cable that has no end on it. I called Teleflex to get the ends that I need(I have them on my other boat) but he informed me that they are only available in a kit that costs about 50 bucks For 2 little ends So I am rigging up something else with some ends I already have. Maybe you could get something from Gaffrig but if not the kit that Teleflex has is an MOR304939.
