Yeah you know what I have been cutting them open. I use a large phillpes screw driver to punch a hole in the oilfilter and then use sheet metal cutters to cut it the rest of the way open.
There has been some junk left in the inside of every filter I cut open. I have also seen small specs of rust also...
As long as it dosnt throw a rod iam fine with it for now. I will be pulling it over the winter and upgrading. Hope she hangs in there

Summit has some cutters that make it much easier. You may be surprised how much trash is just from cutting them open. Been there cutting them open without a cutter because I am hard headed and thought why waste the money. Wish I had bought one sooner now that I have one.

Not the best but work for me.

Borrowed one of these big 4" cutters for awhile. Works good if you cut it right below the crimp seal on the filter.

The way iam cutting them open is making very little debre to fall in the oil filter. Iam cutting as close to the crimp as possible and it is very amazing the amount of crap inside of the filter. Good thing I use good filters and have been changing the oil alot..lol Keeping my fingers crossed that she will live to the end of the season which I think she will...
