Why do you think this?

Crossovers can mostly be found on blower motors, BUT, even Merc puts water cir pumps on their blower motors: SC525, SC575, SC600, & SC800

right,,, but not the 500hp !!! thats what I don't get,,, what makes it right for one motor and not another,,, I have heard a crossover is better provided you keep a thermostat, I have also heard you need the pump,.!!!!! ARGH !!!!

Might recheck your source.

The crossover allows for better cooling, which is a must for a blower motors in order to help prevent detonation. Yet Merc must feel pretty confident in the w/p capabilities on their blower motors and, yes, the HP 500's.
I agree, a t-stat is a must. You must have to have the correct plumbing if you do use a crossover with a stat.

My opinion is that on a stock nat asp motor, the stock setup works great and is very hard to beat.

Why I did not need a X over 454 mag no blower!!Someone said and I thought it would be less trouble-right.Installed x over, now the water pressure is to high,I thought and weilded pressure valve on x over, great water pressure is right on. Now water temp. is not stable enought for me,I thought and now I am trying to get y pipe made up to pre heat water from exhaust. Not much left now but I think I thought to much and did not know enough.James
