Default hydraulic steering question

just installed mayfair twin bravo hydraulic steering,i did install the oil cooler ,it seems the base of the steering column is very warm is this normnal thanks for any info thanks joe

Mine gets warm too. It is a char-lynn Arneson set up with a cooler. Been that way for a few years now, no problems so far.

Never felt mine but would think it does. The PS pump builds heat and sends the warmed fluid to the helm. Next time out I'll feel it or hit it with my lazer thermometer.

From what I understand it should be about 140 degrees. Warm to hot but you should be able to touch it without getting burned.
