Nose Cones on older Volvo Drives
Does anyone run older Volvo Drives, such as the 270, 280T, or 290? I'm running a pair 383 strokers turning 280Ts (1.61:1) with Bronson Hill 15 x 27" props in my '72 Magnum 27 Sport and it runs in the mid-sixtys. I am considering installing a pair of Hydromotive Volvo nose-cones, but I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or not. Does anyone have any experience with nose cones on these drives? For economic reasons I'll be staying with the Volvos for now. Maybe in the future I'll look into converting to Bravos or Arnesons, but not now.

I have a 280 with a nosecone.. but it was on it when i purchased the boat...have heard from many including the shop that is going thru my drive right now that the volvos are very blunt without the cones and they are a good benifit to have... it elongates and also make s the drive more hydrodynamic which every little bit helps.... i think they go for about $ 150.00 am getting ready to put a 383 stroker in front of mine too..... how long have you run that boat with the 383 ?

I built the 383s last winter and ran them over the summer. But as luck has it, one thing or another kept me out of the boat for much of the summer and fall. This year will be different. BTW, you will really like the 383 over the 350. Highly recommended! Thanks for the info.
