Default Bennett Tab install

Anybody with the st-16 dual ram tabs. I'm putting these on my 98 260 Powerquest. The instructions say to mount 3/8 in. from the bottom. Is that enough so I don't scrub off any speed? I know K-planes are mounted about 1 in. The next question is if I do mount them higher how do you figure the negative angle?Again the instructions say 1 & 1/4in. from bottom measured at the end of the tab. Thanks in advance. When I get these on then I'm gonna put on the mechanical indicators. That should be fun!

It does have a certain lack of "FUN" that this place has, but there are some pretty knowledgeable people there and the prices at boatfix.com are really good for all the normal stuff-actually cheaper than West or Boats is US.

For Bennetts 1/4 to 3/8 sounds about right. If you mount them higher the tab will have more angle when it touches the water. In rough conditions I run mine level with the bottom of the hull.

FYI TrimMasters need to be mounted 3/4 from bottom because of the hinge configuration.

Thanks for the answers guys. RickR, That sounds about right, Powerquest said they mount almost an inch up, they use Trim Masters. If I don't hear from Tabman I'm gonna mount them 3/8 like they say. That way I can use the other measurments they provide. I was looking last night and 1 inch seemed a little too high. I had Bennetts on my Z-25 Donzi and they were about 1/4 to 3/8. Anybody else feel free to give me your .02

I think the Bennetts hinge right at the transom, thats why they mount them so close to the bottom. The K-planes hinge is set back at least an inch due to the beefy plate and hinge and thats why they need to be mounted higher. I think. Im also trying to figure out where to mount my hybrid k-planes. I have settled on 5/8" from the bottom because Im not using the thick k-plane bracket. The whole idea is when at speed, with the tabs up, they are not making any contact with the water-right?
