Has anyone tried out the MSD 6M-2 ignition box on a 454 or 502 mag efi? I am interested in performance gains and if the box helped clean up the black transom soot. I currently have a modified 454 mag efi, with a new cam shaft, valve train, head modifications, exhaust, fuel pressure regulator, flame arrestor, re-programmed ECU.

I have one on my 454efi from Az speed as part of their kit. IT cleaned up the transom about 75% and that's with their reprogram of the ECM. I didn't notice any performance gain, maybe 1 mph and I wouldn't buy the kit if I had to do it again, but if you're looking for less soot this will make a difference. I would say it takes 3 days to accumlate what used to take a day.

I do like the K&N filter, I used to use K&N filters on my old YZ's and I think it's an outstanding filter.

I mounted it on the transom right behind the engine and above the transom plate. I thought I had a picture of it but I cant find it. It's a very short distance to the coil and there is also a wire loom right there that had the tach wire in it.

I had seen several other boats with it mounted there, so that is what I did too.
