Red face Water flow ?

My engine builder wants us to reduce the amount of water going to the tail pipes. We plan to put in a check valve to reduce this water, but my question is will this cause any other probllems. Like to much presure in the engine block, or causing the engine to over heat, because of the reduced flow.

thanks
Warren

Warren, I would keep a close eye on the water pressure. If you don't have a gauge, I'd get one.

Cool

Go for the water dump before the exhaust and if you dump it on the outdrive it will help cool the drive also.

Not sure how a check valve is going to work here. Check valves are more of a one direction valve, not a pressure or flow regulater. Only way to decrease water flow out the exhaust is either to decrease water coming into the motor, thus creating an overheating problem, or to dump some of the water out of the motor overboard before the exhaust. Maybe this is what he has in mind?

Erics suggestion is good advise, have a water pressure gauge.
Too much pressure will blow intake gaskets, sometimes headgaskets, and dump water into your oil pan.
Too little pressure means either a) not enough water flow(bad pump, plugged lines) thru your motor, or b) too much flow and not enough restriction. Water flowing to fast won't absorb the heat from the motor as well. Normal water pressure is around 18psi @WOT.
