I have 4 JL Audio 10inch infinite baffle subs under the rear seat. They are powered by a 750/1 amp.. JL is releasing the new 1200/1 amp soon.. I would not (personally) go with a 1000/1. The current draw is tremendous.. my 4 amps run quite a bit using 2 group 29 interstate batteries.. I also have 3 HD-RLC switches to control the volume of each 600/4 amp.. the highs are all running 4 ohm loads.. That is the optimal configuration (as from JL anyway) for their amps and speakers.. 2 ohm loads and the woofer has a little more “freedom” to move’’.. so they say..

I need a good set of 6.5 speakers too and keep going back to these because they pull 2.7 ohms anstead of 4 like most 6.5s.

Wet Sounds XS-650's are a great marine speaker that's comparable to or better than the Polk's.

Im running 8 memphis audio 8" mids. They have a seperate tweeter and sound great! Im not running marine version but they do sell it in 8" also. In my opinion a 6.5 is just too small for a boat when you can put in 8" and get more mid range/bass and louder/cleaner sound.

They won't see anything lower than 160hz
Thanks,

More than likely YES in somebody elses thread.
I understand what your saying however just curious what happens when you have a free air sub in an enclosure? Another words if this install does not allow sufficient room for an enclosure and went with free air considering it's for mid base. If the performance was poor so to speak could an enclosure be done with a free air? Not as efficient probably and what else? This is strictly a question I have and curious.

I have 4 JL 6.5's and a 10" sub powered by a Memphis Belle marine amp.....sound quality is top notch....then again...I did pay for it all....but other people say it sounds good too! LOL You won't win any concert contests with only one sub and amp...but for regular listening...it just rocks!

In my opinion there is no point in an infinate baffle speaker. For it to work you have to seal the front from the back, other wise the bass will cancel out! With your boat you have tons of options as to what you can do! As for size, size does not equal louder or better sound! In my home system, my tower speakers, which are Monitor Audio Golds have 3, 5 1/4"'s and a 1" tweeter backed by a M&K MX350 sub. The towers use 2 5 1/4" for mid bass and 1 5 1/4" for mid range. The sound it unreal and the clarity would not be possible with a larger speaker. Almost all high end home audio use's multiple SMALL speakers. You're on the right track, stay on it!
