Which CARB Barry Grant VS Holley HP
Hey guys,
Just ready to pull the trigger on a couple of carbs for my built 496's. I am at a stand still though trying to decide on the Barry Grant 850 down leg OR Holley 950 HP.
Any input or would be helpful. Need to decide before going to the dyno next week.
Thanks,
John
PS I am leaning towards the BG

Call pro system carbs before you shell out the cash for new off the shelf. I am on the hunt for a new carb too, and have been wanting to go custom carb because I do not want to set it up. The only problem is everyone I have talked to like Nickerson have been pretty expensive. Pro system is not anymore expensive then off the shelf, and very willing to help. It seems worth a try, and is the route I think I am going tomorrow.

neither,c&s,, their aerosol carbs are like haveing FI with the throttle response..give them your specs and they will build you a marine version..

I agree, call patrick at pro systems, will custom build for the cost of stock !!! run his stuff on my 1000 h/p top sportsman engines...carbs are spot on out of the box and not nearly as expensive as you would think..bolt them on and go !!!

I have used both Barry Grant 750 & 850 on my last 496. The 850 was to big. They also make an 825 version now. I bought mine from a guy off Ebay and you can not beat his prices anywhere. At my door in 3 days. They are easy to tune, look great, and run great.

FORGET about BG, I have used C&S aerosols for 12 years with very good results but a bit expensive. We used Pro System on the last build and are happy with the quality and price (also made more HP). I have 2 BG 850's new with 3 dyno runs on 1 and the other still new in box make you a deal.

Thanks guys, this really helps. I realize you get what you pay for also. It just sucks when you do these rebuilds and then find out you need to spend more $$$. Carbration is as important as cam selection though.
