Fellas, How much total advance should I be running on my 1993 Merc 2.5L ? Oh, and where the h*ll is the timing pointer, or do you have to make your own?
Thanks in advance,
Nate

Make a TDC checker out of an old sparkplug.
Auger out the center and tap it for a machine bolt. Run the screw in until it hits the #1 piston about a half inch before it gets to the factory mark. Bump the piston into the stop (by hand of course) and mark it with a scratch on a gear tooth. Turn the motor backwards until the piston hits from the other direction. Make a scratch. The true TDC is exactly halfway between the marks. Adjust your factory pointer (or your own pointer) to that spot.
