Default boat lost spped after chiller installed 575Sci's

A friend installed super chillers on his boat over the winter and now seems ot have lost quite a bit of speed.

I have yet to get out on the boat to verify, but from the callI received last night, I thought I would post here and see if anyone had ideas to look at

twin step Donzi 38 zx poker run
expension boxes
XP drives
teague chillers
575SCi
32 P merc 4 blades spinning in
transom water pickups for chillers
side water dumps

he says it runs and pulls strong, last year this combo sans chiller ran best of 82, yesterday (62, light chop, fresh water) it ran 72 @ 5100 RPM

he said it felt right and like the boat was hooked up, and tabs / drives were were they alwasy are (he has owned this boat 3 seasons)

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Christian

What RPM was he turning? I expect that he is now running rich and needs an ECU flash. Where'd he buy the chillers? They should be able to help.

You cant add intercoolers without making other adjustments.

Sounds like it's stuck in "cold start" mode. Early season, cold water, cold air through the intercooler, and these motors are already AFR fat/rich from the factory.
EB Marine here in Nashville has reprogrammed several 575s, including mine, and should have an ECU curve for your friend's boat. I would give Eric a call. 615-714-2944, Monday through Saturday.
Regards,
Steve

The engine will also lose at least a pound of boost with the addition of the intercooler because of the restriction of the intercooler fins. I have seen some lose 2 pounds or more.

Did he change anything else? 5100 before and 5100 after should equal the same speed with the rest of the boat being the same.
The ECU does need to be changed. Mine has the Whipple intercooler and Dart heads, 5500=703hp. Tuning with a O2 bung in the header is the way to go and get it dialed in.
