need help choosing prop for baja sport 250 with 450hp
since i have to pay to post in the prop section i am posting here. i have a 89 baja sport 250 and a guesstimated 450+ hp. the boat came original with a 330hp 454 and a 23 pitch 3 blade prop that i am currently running right now. i have tons of power out of the hole even with a full boat and no tabs as of right now. i am thinking i need to go to a 25 or 26 pitch 3 blade but not sure, i have seen similar hp ratings getting up to 27. i also have k planes going on so i will have tabs at some point, not sure if thats gonna help but i know the tabs may be what i need to get out of the hole with a bigger prop. is a 4 blade gonna do me any good? for those that do not know this hull, its a true 25' thats 27' with swim platform if that helps at all. thanks in advance for any input

It depends on the engine rpm your shooting for.
I have a baja 23'5 Force and Im turning just over 5500 rpm at 71 mph with a 24 4 blade thats slightly labbed.
25 will probably be to much for you.

Hey, good to see you got it running. Like was said before what is your target RPM? What is you current WOT RPM? I bet you have the correct prop right now, just spool it up a little more.

i am a thinking the 25 mirage plus as griff mentioned is my starting place. i think my carb is holding me back from reaching max rpm right now, i only have a 750 on her right now so i am not 100% sure on max rpm and i have not let it go much past 5000 since i have a non mag motor for nowi am just hesitant after all of the work i have done. i find it a little hard to believe that i should still be at a 23 pitch but maybe i am wrong. it stinks, i know people that have everything up to 23 pitch props alying around and then they all jump to 28s i there are several mirage plus props online for reasonable amounts so i am gonna try to snag one of those and then upgrade this carb to a 800cfm and see what happens

I agree 25 may be too much. At 600hp in a baja 232 I run a 25 3 blade at max 5300 rpm. I can not get any more rpm's than that due to prop depth.
