Hull Widening ??? .. Why And How ?
not sure where to post this ... but..
I recently read an ad where it stated that a 32" cat was widened 12".. i have 2 questions...??
1).. how will this effect a cat hull ?
2).. and where would they have widen from ...widen the tunnel or widen the pontoon sections ??
has anyone else done this ??

Answer #1: Widened in the tunnel between the sponsons.
Answer #2: To trap more air to give more lift and thus less drag - for more speed.
Question you didn't ask: Don't try this at home.

I think the original 31' Shadow cat widened the sponsons about 6" in order to fit a BBC. That became the Chris cat and a dozen splashes. That may be what you're referring to.

DCB also offers a "wide body" version of at least one of their cats.
