Default all 8 plugs sopping wet with oil and fuel?

I started wrenching on her last night and yanked all 8 plugs out of starboard engine (those that have followed the story know this engine is giving me problems)
Sounded like it was back firing out carb or something
I yanked all 8 plugs so far and replaced them with NGK's
Each one I pulled out was sopping wet with oil and fuel.

NONE of them were wet with water so I can take it that rotted exhaust manifolds and risers is not a issue now.

I ran it for about 15 minutes yesterday after plugs change on muffs, and going to yank a few plugs at random to see if there is any build up on them now.
If they are wet with fuel, carb rebuild?
No banging or backfiring, Installing new caps, rotors, taylor wires, oil changes and oil filters and water/fuel seperators tonight

Should I take it out for a test run or should I just do the intake swaps now? (2 edelbrock performers waiting to go on)

Any ideas what to do next?
Thanks
Jason

what's up brother...

Is that the first time you checked/changed those plugs since the old owner and winterizing?? If so that could be from years of buildup if he never changed them.

What kind of carbs are you running?

Supposed to rain tommorow....you might want to blast her tonight

Let me know....I'll be up putting the drive back on my Junk.

I thought you were going to call me so I could paint your drive brother, what happened?

Yeah first chance I got to tear into it at all since I owned it.
Plugs looked beat on outside too, rusty shanks on them all.

carbs are stock rochester quadra $hits
Have new intakes to go on in next few weeks but not just quite yet. (want to see if that bang bang is there or not first)
if I have to do intakes again due to say a head problem or what not, want to make sure bang bang is gone and problem eliminated before tearing down top half

Just dont want to do it twice is all
Nothing new really, just getting married this saturday, no big deal (YEAH RIGHT)
I wanted to take her to OCMD where im getting married but if I cant test her out first, then no point towing her down there just to find out that BANG BANG is still there

I would love to splash it today but I dont think i have time today.
want to change the oil, filters, caps and rotors and wires first
Have 2 new MSD blaster Hi Vibe coils waiting to be installed as well
(trying to do this right)
If it is not raining tomorrow i might take off around 230 and head home and drag her to Neshaminy for a 20 min test run
then we shall see if she is ready to rock and roll or ready to sit for a while (bottom of the 9th, score is tied, its time for the big one)

Talk to you soon man
Jason

running on the hose is just going to create build up. you have to run the boat at full throttle for a while. bring the rpms down to three grand and shut the motor off. then check the plugs. if they look ok your good to go. if not then you have carb issues, and the other guy's on the board can help you with that.

A flat cam can make a loud bang or a dead miss when the fuel lights in the exh I know all about the rain it is raining here now to rich maybe the float in the carb. You can ck the spark with a st125 tester a spark tester from otc remove the wire put it in ground it to the block and crank it or start it if it has a good blue spark it is good to go than do the next cyl.
