Default What gauge alternator wire?

Question. I'm replacing the original 37amp alternators with 65amp, and want to make sure I put the proper hot wire back with the increase in amperage. What size should I use?

Don't want to have a Bobs-BBQ on the 1st day out.

I would go 10ga or 8 ga. to the starter post. That will be plenty.

10g would be OK for a 65amp alternator. If you got closer to 100amps, I'd be looking for a 8g wire. Don't use the cheapie crimp on terminals. Look for some really good and heavy ones. The terminals are the restriction in the system and can burn up if under a heavy and sustained load. I'd also recommend adding a 14g fusable link near the alternator. This element acts like a slow blow fuse.

Audio, Cord.........Thanks for the advice. I'd rather pull the original stuff and replace it. Think I'll take both thoughts, and go with the 8ga with the slow-blow................THANKS!!!

........and jon-boy.........whats up wit das bot?
