Default 454 procharger compression ratio

hey people...i wanna run 5psi.....like to have 7 but i think with this compression it is out of the question.....

im building a backup blower motor for my scarab. i have a set of Diamond racing pistons already that id like to use, but they yield a 9:1 compression ratio with the heads i want to use.

can i run 5psi on this setup?????

-454 4 bolt gen v block
-diamond racing forged pistons (9:1 with 113cc chamber)
-isky blower cam
-ported oval port GM heads 113 cc
-dimple rods
-12 qt milodon pan
-750 holley
-crower roller rockers
-stud girdle(optional)
-vi jr intake
-procharger m1sc
-504 IC
-BG mighty enduro fuel pump
-magnafuel boost regulated FPR
-crane hyfire ignition

thats the basics of the parts that i have to work with right now...its kind of a miss match of all the stuff i have left over from other builds.

5 Lbs should be fine, but would definitely not go 7.

thats what i was thinkin.....and am i correct to assume 92 octane would be a must.......or will my cam manufacturer be able to recomend timing for that amount of boost? or should i run it at 28 deg like on my 454 magnum in my boat now?

You will need more than a 750 carb and some really big jets.

is the 750 not gnna be able to be tweaked enough to work?

im running the stock carb on my 454 mag right now, rejetted of course....thanks for the input guys!

My experience with blow-through carb systems is that a smaller carburetor is better. A carb cant sense boost in the box, it delivers fuel based on velocity through it. I've found it is much easier to map a fuel curve with a small carburetor, high velocity, than the other way around. I recommend you contact a carb company that does blow-through mods and ask them.

Second what boat1 and lightning said. Stick with a modified 750.

Default Fixx

+3,, a 750 will be fine, heck i have run 650's old 454's with no issues..to make yours a blow through you will need to have the body machined smooth where the metering blocks sit, also jet extensions for the rear jets, solid floats and solid rear notched float for the jet extensions..id you are running a rear power valve you will need to open the pv passages to allow more fuel to flow through the pv circuit....if your not over 700 hp then running a carb in a box vs's a hat style you wont notice the hp increase..

cool!

the carb is still in the carb box it came in. i bought it from a fella that switched to a hat style carb on his engine running a procharger. i personally cannot vouch for what has or has not been done to it so i think i should just send it to nickerson or maybe buy one already modified...........
