Merc says 87,,, anything higher will actually hurt performance.
I use Meguires Flagship wax,,, seems to hold up good.
Good luck with the new boat !!!!

I had the same engine in my last boat. You definitely do not want to use over 89 octane. 92 will make it run rich and turn the transom black. Use 87 if you can get it. None of the marinas sell it around here.
I also use Meguire's. Easy on and off and lasts forever.....even after a good washing after each use. However, the surface needs to be good and clean. Use SeaPower if you want a good cleaner wax. Then cover with Meguires.

Enjoy the weekend. I am stuck here at work and all my HRPA buddies are out boating.

you are free to use "cheapcrap" gas. Be aware, though, that 87 octane gas does not have a long "shelflife". It typically uses a cheaper additive package. If you know you are going to not use the boat for over a month, run the tank low and splash in a little 92. Then when you plan to use the boat, feel free to fill up the rest of the way with fresh cheapie again. Winter layup fill with 89 plus fuel stabilizer. Full tanks will not be subject to condensation.
