Boot,
I had the same combination in a Top Gun. The V-6 modules have less timing in them which allows you to run more initial timing. But, and this is the good one; the timing you do have starts advancing at about 500 RPM in a V8 motor.
What happens now is you idle in neutral at 900 with 22 degrees of advance, you shift into gear the RPM drops to 700, now the timing drops to 16 degrees and the engine slows down another 200 RPM, now you are idling at 500 in gear and stall.
The V8 molule starts to advance around 900 so you don't have this low speed problem.
I switched back and watched all the other guys crash into the docks.
The only reason I would use them is if you are backfiring thru the carb at idle, they will help this condition. 14 degrees initial and 30 total.
