Default fuel pump cam question

Pulled My 1 Fuel Pump Of To Change It After Sucking The Old Gas And Oil Out I Noticed If I Stick My Finger Down Where The Fuel Pump Lever Rides I Can Spin A Metal Ring, And It Slides 1/8" On The Shaft Front To Back Is This Suppose To Be Like That Or Not. Not Sure If That Ring Is Supose To Turn On The Cam Shaft Or Not Want To Be Sure.

Thanks

Yes that is normal. There is an eccentric (lobe) on the pump shaft which is a wear ring. If you were to have the pump apart or remove the shaft, that ring just slides off. It is cup shaped so it can't slide off either direction because one way it will bottom out on the side of the eccentric with the bottom of the cup and the bearing/housing keeps it from going the other way. You are ok.
