Default Bennett hatch actuator

I have a Bennett hatch actuator for my hatch along with the Bennett trim tabs. I have no problem with the tabs they work great. The hatch actuator has a small hole at the top of the cylinder that squirts a little bit of the fluid out when the actuator reaches the full open or close of my hatch. I am sick of cleaning up the fluid in my engine compartment and I covered the hole with some tape today. Is that going to cause a problem in the system to cover that hole up?
