Default U-bolt Torque Number Please!

I have a 1999 bravo HP with low water pickup mated to a 7.4 efi mag. what is the correct torque # for the u bolt nuts at the top of the gimble housing on the outside of the boat??? i did a search today and saw anywhere from 20# to 60# i do not want to break this so i am asking before i do not after.(some of you thought i would never learn )

Im sure my early bravo book said 40 but Ill check it again when I get home.

Rob, it's 50 ftlbs. I torque mine twice a year.

Im installing the new cam Friday so we should be ready for a weekend on the bay at your place in the next couple weeks! Im sick of turning wrenches on this thing. I just wanna drive it!!!

Direct from Merc Service manual #11, Bravo Stern Drive Unit, page 4B-1, u-bolt nuts, 30-40 lb. ft. Maybe the later drives have better u-bolts.

went out tomite before we splashed the boat and checked the nuts, right on the money at 55# didnt have to move at all before the wrench clicked,that was a good feeling.
