Corsa Silent Choice Mufflers
I have a 33 Powerplay with twin 502's. They have Corsa silent choice mufflers. Went out today and noticed the engines sounded different with the exhaust open through the transom. Checked the engines and noticed that, on each engine, only one actuator was working allowing exhaust through the transom only on one side of the engine. The other was closed, forcing the exhaust through the drive.
I check the 10a breaker mounted on the engine with no success. I disassembled the plate where the breaker is attached and there appear to be two relays. I assume (yes I know) that each one operates an actuator.
I'm thinking a bad relay. But what a coincidence, two relays fail at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas on anything else to check.
Any leads on where to purchase the relays?
Thanks to all in advance.
Mike

Try swapping the relays right to left and see if the problem follows the relays. If not, then look at the actuators. Try swapping them as well to see if it is them. (Could be a wiring problem.) Don't hesitate to call CORSA - They're always very helpful.

I had a Corsa Quick and Quiet system on a boat that I used to own. On mine the relay was not servicable seperatly. It was part of the wiring harness. Mine went bad once, it shorted out, blew the fuse. I called Corsa, they sent me a replacement for free. I remember that those solenoids are 2 stage. There is a pull and a hold stage. The pull draws more amperage, the reason is so there is enough power to open the valves when the engine is running. Once they are open, it changes over to the hold stage to save current.

checkmate454mag thanks, you're right it is a two stage solenoid. I moved the actuator to the open position by hand and it held. Thanks for the tip. I'll try calling Corsa Performance tomorrow.

Try pulling on all the wire connections. A sligh tug should not pull any wires out of the crimped terminals. If any do pull out, the connection would not carry enough amperage to pull in the solenoids. I had the same problem untill I found the bad one.

Just got back from the boat yard, it is amazing what a little adjustment and some CRC can do. I adjusted the linkage on both actuators and they are good as gold.
Thanks for the help, thanks to Dennis at Corsa also.
