WildThing, It was a new boat with very little hours, so we did not change the head gaskets. Our hopes are that they used a different head gasket on the 496HO. If he blows the head gasket, we will just have to change it. We couldn't find anyone that had done this before, so we just went for it. He went from a consistant 68mph to a solid 83mph and has hit 84. I would think there are other people on here that have done it since then. I know there are some that have ProCharged.

A single 28 elim Daytona is a lot of boat for that type of power and that whipple kit is relativley mild- maybe 600 ponies if I recall (I sell them). In a similar example- I bought my 01 25 Daytona new with the 454 mag. I went from 67 to 88 GPS after the whipple going from a 22- 28" Bravo. the following yr I changed to an imco shorty, added a spacer for 1.5" shorter x, picked up 11 more for 99.0 with a labbed 30.
In a similar way, it takes a lot of power for your Pantera, at 1120 feet I was running 73ish with the stock 575, now 78ish (so far) after boosting it to 650 at the crank.

Sorry Ron, I should have specified that it was on a V and not a cat.
I would think that on a cat, it would make more of an increase also. It has an XZ Bravo with 1.36 ratio and went from a 24 bravo at something like 4600rpm to a Bravo 26 spinning around 5200rpm. It is running 5lbs of boost, and still no signs of any problems, but it only has about 50 hours since the upgrade.
