What is the proper procedure for installing screw in studs...I mean is there a certian amount of torque or just plain tight! Also should I use any thread locker...I was planning on using Loctite blue.....
Thanks

ARP studs are to be intalled hand tight, not torqued into the block with an allen wrench that fits in the top of the stud. use your favorite sealant on the studs that go to the water jackets. i use the same sealant on the studs that don't go into the water jackets just to keep everthing uniform. use ARP moly lube on the threads that protrude past the head where the washer and nuts go. the torque spec is 75 lbs. on a big block with ARP lube and 85lbs with 30 wt. motor oil as your thread lube. use the ARP lube. it's good stuff and does make a difference. also, you have to be careful with the short studs as they may not clear some exhaust manifold but i have EMI Thunder with no problems.

Sorry I should have mentioned screw-in rocker arm studs. 7/16" base and 3/8" tops.....So with that being said what should they be torqued to and should I use a thread sealer?

The Merc book does say to use sealant.

However, I didn't see the need as they do not protrude into any oil or water jackets.

I never have used any sealant or loc tite. Although the loc tite isn't a bad idea. I just simply torqued them to 35-40#.

Well I found the instructions....They said to use their moly-lube and torque to 35# or 30wt and 75#. No mention of sealer at all. Thanks for your info guys.
