I have a 292 with twin carb 454 mags. They have comp cams and at 3000rpms running 38mph I get alittle over 2mpg. A big fuel consumer in a boat is coming onto plane and obviously wot. Mthe original quadrajets will get you the best economy since they are vacuum secondaries. They have mechanical secondaries with vacuum operated plates underneath so it's still advisable to not run into them when coming on plane if you want to conserve gas. I run at lake of the ozarks and the 2mpg is with no wot pulls
