Tilt helm on a older style non-tilt helm..
I have a older 88 baja sport. It has a non-tilt steering wheel on it. It never really bothered me before. But now, I would like to sit down in the bolster on the longer runs that we have been making. The problem is I cant sit in the seat and have my legs under the steering wheel. So I would like to install a tilt wheel/helm on my boat now. Can I just replace the tilting part..or do I have to replace the whole steering wheel mechianizm?

I am watching this one also, as I have a 272 and looked at the steering mechanism the other day. My thought was to rotate it forward some, as now it is vertical. But tilt would be nice. Watching also, hopefully someone will have some info.

Hard to say without knowing what you currently have. Can you post a picture of the helm both behind the dash and on the front of the dash?

If you are looking for a bolt on tilt wheel, it doesn't exsist as far as I can see. I searched for weeks once, found nothing.
Replace the helm or cut your legs off
