Can anyone tell me what to set the preload on the bearings that are one the input shaft of a Bravo drive. It has been converted to XR gears. I am replacing both bearings that are pressed on to the upper pinion gear and I cant seem to get ahold of Lenard at L&L Tech to find out what it is set at and how he does it.. Any info on L&L would be appreciated. He is located in the Lake Havasu area???

Anybody knowledgeable about Bravo outdrives?
I was hoping for more help than this??? What gives? I know there is someone out there in OSO land that can help me.
I am hoping to get to the water this weekend after my boat has been trailer bound for two years.. All I need is little advice..please?

It is 10"in-lbs I believe, with no lower.

The manual says from 6-10 in/lbs.. but I am wondering if in a high performance application it should be tighter or looser?? or what end of the range is good or bad.. If the case expands with heat and so do the bearings.. ??

I dont want get this wrong... if u know what I mean.. just had too many failures in all my stuff..

I've done 10in-lbs. They seem to loosen up after an hour or 2. It is a hard thing to measure accurately anyway. I'd rather be a smidge tight then a little loose when new.

Just my .02... hopefully other will chime in soonnnn....

I have never done this before and I dont have a torque wrench for that range.. Can I do it by feel? or is it too critical.. I have turned over an aged drive and it seems real loose.. so tighten up till it drags.. would that be acceptable.. or should I buy a torque gauge?

I may have an inch pounds torque wrench if I can find it -havn't used it in years.

I know I have one, but it's only about 12" long. But if you're only after 10 in/lbs, that should not be a problem. Oh, and it's only half inch drive, not 3/4". Hey, it was cheap too!!! But I know it works.
