The KE stuff is great, pricey but they make plumbing a breeze !!!

You've got a problem other than the impeller. Check for air leaks between the pickup and pump. Check the housing for damage. Be sure the water line to the pump is not collapsing or kinked. Make sure your water pickup is not getting airated or clogged. I hope you're not starting the boat with it high on a trailer or lift. There's a guy in my marina that warms his boat up on the lift with the drives barely in the water. He cant figure out why he burns out a couple impellers a year.
