Inconel exhaust valves

Because Marine Engines Stay at full throttle for extended periods, the exhaust valves are subjected to very high EGTs. Standard valves cant take the heat. Recommend in just about all marine applications, and especially forced induction stuff.

because the load on a marine engines causes the exhaust valves to get much hotter than a car engine, espically a supercharged deal, you dont want to tulip the valves.

Definitely not the place to save a few bucks. Inconel is a proprietary alloy that is extremely corrosion resistant and very tough. Quite difficult to machine. As said above, the exhaust valves in a marine engine experience extreme heat cycles due to the loads and the potential shock from some cold water.

That's the other reason....cold water shock. Unless you are running completely dry tailpipes, then there is always water vapor flying around in the exhaust. All it takes is a few drops of that cold water hitting a 1500* exhaust valve, that isn't Inconel, and you are in for a bad day.
