labbed prop on Magic Scepter 28'
Hi guys, ive been a lurker on here for a while but had a question about propping my boat. My current boat is a Magic scepter mcob with a 500efi with throttle body and ignition upgrade. drive is a bravo xr 1.50. Last yr in Havasu I was spinning a 26p bravo 1 to 5400rpms, 82mph rev limiter was raised. The topend is currently getting refreshed now at at flattop marine in Havasu. Question is with the refresh am i going to pick up any lost hp, boat has 191 hrs on it. I was wondering if I would see any top speed and cruising speed improvement by going to a labbed 28p

HP from the refresh? Maybe but probably not significant enough to really change things unless you had real issues going in. Labbed prop might pick up a couple of MPH. Your numbers above have you at 8% slip though... if those are accurate, the slip would be hard to beat. I might stick with what you have.

my guess would be that with a single engine boat the lab prop is just going to slip a lot more and you will probably lose speed. With props the only way to know is to test some out. Buy and sell a few used ones until you find the best one for your setup.
