vortec cam upgrade
Hey guys I have a vortec350 in my 230 scorpion right now and was thinking about upgrading the cam to a lt4 hot cam. Right now it has the stock 330 hp cam. The engine has only one season on it ( maybe 50 hrs) the short blocks been decked and line honed and balanced. With standard felpro head gasket it runs at 9.75-1 comp.. The heads have been pocket ported, and I am running a stealth intake manifold. I am using stock log style omc ex man to thru prop. The boat runs about 57-59 on gps . Is it worth changing the cam? Will there be a noticeable gain? Or am I just wishfull dreaming

Not sure what the specs on the current cam are. But stock vortecs are only good for .480 lift without modifying for new springs. So unless you do that might ad well put the money in the gas tank. The gov sure as heck is making sure that costs plenty!
I know there are guys here running a lt4 cam on stock manifolds but the have thru hulls, not sure if you would run into reversion running thru prop.

Never seen 23 Scorpion with twins. Never seen any twin boat under 24. (Ok, mebbe a t-craft with 120's) Those OMC log exhausts are more restrictive than Mercs. I think any reasonable cam will have a hard time breathing thru them.
