Default 496 mag won't crank

I started the motor for the first time of the season with a water hose, no issues, ran fine. Took the boat to the water and tried to crank and I get nothing but a clicking sound, the sound is coming from the module by the fuse on top of the motor. Last season I put a new starter and impeller in it. any thoughts?????

Clean your battery connections, then check all grounds and connections on starter. Assuming you have a good battery.

Primary starter solenoid? Looks like a trim pump solenoid.... problem is they don't list one on the 496? Still digging though.. if I find it you'll know...

Well it's there and thats your problem. It is the thing you hear clicking on top of the motor. Same as a trim tab pump solenoid. About $15 on ebay. Easy fix.

No problem... they basically have two type they use - one with a flat mounting base - the other is mounted up a little bit. Both perform the exact same function and can be used if in a pinch ... just the mounting is different. If stuck somewhere - cross the two terminals on top and it'll turn right over... (The larger two of the 4) Good luck!
