Also thru timing light on all wires for the heck of it while lightly revving up and down to watch for any missing flickers so to speak. All wires seem to light evenly and not miss. But this is with no load and not sure if it really proves anything anyway....just thought I'd mention it.

Didn't get to pulling valve covers again but will look that over again tomorrow. Carbs are dominators. Any good way to verify the inner springs without a spring tester? Just bring each one up and given it a visual and with a screwdriver give it a feel for play? I'm guessing if one was cracked I would be able to see/feel something off right?

If a spring is broken you shoud see it. If it weak, well no way to tell without a tester. But the motors are new.. so the springs should be ok..??

I'd buy a cheap spacer, drill it, pipe tap and hook a vacuum gauge to a port in the spacer. Watch for the gauge flickering or bouncing. Usually a sign of bad valve springs. Other than that order an on the head tester from jegs
