'93 502 Mag, Bravo, stock oil cooler. In working on my power steering problem (see other post) I note that my oil cooler is really loose in the hangers- in other words, the cooler has a lot of play in the "straps" that hold it to the bracket. Is there supposed to be some kind of insert (rubber?) in here? Any thoughts appreciated.

My hanger has a two piece clamp with two bolts holding the top piece on. I don't know if yours is like that but, if it is, the bolts might just be loose. The clamp(s) should be snug around the cooler.

I spoke to a Merc mechanic and he advised that he had run across this situation before. Apparently, there were two oil coolers in use at that time and mine may have the later cooler and the straps just weren't changed. Oh, well, looks like another pile of $$$ to the Merc dealer
