Question fuel level sending unit repair

My fuel gauge quit working and I discovered the float is missing on the sending unit. Any ideas on what I can use without replacing the whole unit.

Default gas float

a pice of that tanish colored HARD open cell foam. the stuff that would crunch if you hit it with a hammer. When I had a Master Craft mine died I took it apart and that is all it ( the foat) was with two little magnets inbeded in it.
