There is power on the table, just by getting rid of the HP500 cam, for a better blower cam profile. The HP500 cam isnt exactly a great blower cam for you're typical low boost marine setup.

I would go on a limb and say you are correct, the blower was added at roughly the 300hr mark and I think the valves were went through then. I've been going back and forth on whether to put new valves in it this winter. Have had some performance shops say no and some say yes. I am kinda with you guys and don't want to be without a boat next year, Whats a fair price for valve work?
Yes the boat is a single motor 97 29ft Fountain. I'm running a 4blade 28p prop, been back and forth with trying a 26 or 27. Heard the sweet spot for the hp500's are around 5200rpms? With a 1/4 tank of fuel and 2 people the boat is capable of 80mph. Thing is though its a boat and we are always taking friends out with us. I'm trying to figure out how to get the boat to get into the upper 70's loaded down. My buddy has a aerotech challenger that I'm trying to keep up with. Maybe a different prop is the answer? Last weekend at the lake we had a full tank, 6ppl, and three coolers. It was horrible trying to get on plane, probably took a good 45secs to a minute. Do the 97 Fountains have left handed prop or right handed?
I am very new to boating as this is my first boat so I apologize for all the questions as I am sure some seem stupid.

That sure looks smaller than a 177 doesn't it? Frigging carb is almost as big as the blower. Looks like maybe a 142 small block blower ?? Good lord. On a 502ci. Omg.
You may wanna set the boost at 3 lbs lol

You guys dont think that if he swaps props and picks up a few hundred rpm that the boost wont increase a pound or so?
I would think theres a chance, just asking people more knowledgeable than I.

My roots blowers hit 6psi, whether Im at 3500RPM, or 5500RPM with the throttles pinned.
