they run great, just don't make the TQ in the right place.....

I am close like I said before, Cigrocket built 540's made 680hp on dyno, not sure the TQ I just asked again.... but in a 86 Mistress with TRS he went 74-75@5350 he said with 27 Mirage plus.... it is not like these engines run like chit, they just seem to run about what a 540 built like mine would run, its not going to magically find 5 mph no matter what cam I do or tuning, my tuning is very close, glad I put widebands on it, I mean you guys act like I know nothing, built garbage with garbage parts and I am complaining.... not the case, I used good parts, built them right wether yo wanna believe it or not, and they run great, besides not having enough low end azz to pull this boat with same props I had before.....the boat is going 73 at this point so I am .5mph away from old engines.... not too bad just wish it didn't cost me tons of money to go slower....

I was led to think these would be much more power then old engines and be very happy with them.... the only thing the other engines did right was pull that heavy boat.....

I think a smaller carb will wake up the torque curve more than opening the exhaust valve later.

I think the exhaust might be choking it a bit. The right set of headers would probably wake them up a bit.

Not that this has anything to do with Tim's motor but I thought it was very interesting. Talking to guy at the Marina last weekend (builds a lot of nice motors) years ago he built an 850 for a Pantera. Had the dyno setup to run Marine Headers. Dyno'd with CMI's made 850 put on dry dyno headers (car) made 850 and some change. Thought for the heck of it throw on some Gil's went over 900. Hmmm put dyno headers back on 850 and change.

Just gonna toss this out- are you sure your throttle blades are opening all the way? Free and easy to check.
