I've got a 32' baja with 2x 468 blowers with 52 hours on them. I'm running weiand 256's with dual holly 700cfm, no chokes, dyno'd. The port engine never has idled as well as the starboard engine (especially cold). Now even after running the and it warm it still does not like to idle and has gotten worse. Cam is a 232in/234 out @0.050 with 114 l/c. timing is 32 advanced. Ignition is MSD. Engines run very well and even at speed.

If they have power valves-you may have popped one. Also check your fuel bowls. I have a friend going through the same thing and there are small fragments of rubber in the carbs-possibly from the fuel pump or lines(we shall see).

Check the secondary throttle plate opening. too much and engine will not idle. sometimes closing secondarys completely will rid engine of idle problems. close only until plates touch throttle bore walls, but do not stick closed. .002-.003'' clearence is preferable.

My old Holleys would never idle well until I drilled the primary throttle plates. There are very specific instructions in the Holley performance book and do it slow and start small. It took a while (years) before I had them running like injected motors but they can. If I remember right, the first thing you do is measure how far open your primary plates are when idling and if your idle mixture screws have little effect on idle quality, and that will tell you if drilling them will help. What it actually does I think is put you back on the idle control circuit by allowing the primary plates to close more. Worked for me on NA motors..

I started witht the idle screws. I turned all 8 all the way in. They were between 1/2 and 1-3/4, most about 1 turn. I set all 8 of them to one turn. There was almost no discernable change. Does this seem correct?
Checked plugs and they looked fine. Primary and secondary inlets are all in the same position.
The engines seem to idle OK under no load. The Port just seems to want to slowly stall when dropping into gear.
How would I check for a carb seal leak?
Any suggestions.
