My buddy has had 1075s and the new motors without the pop off valve the oil pump is driven like a bit@ch so it has oil pressure at idle.

Box cleaned (a little). Are you referring to a low pressure shut-off? I'm not familiar with Mercury's design/ engineering. And are you talking wet or dry sump pump?

His stuff is nice just did some valve covers for spring oilers nice job and good price. The only thing with my piston oilers they have a direct shot to the piston nothing in the way counter weight or rod.

Could you please elaborate?

Mercury puts a spring loaded ball in-between the squirted and the main so the first X-amount of psi goes to the bearings. Import engines do the same. The ones I did also do the same but I get full flow ones they have enough pressure.

I think are two different sizes oilers the large ones need more volume to keep the bearings alive=more pump speed.

So basically with a 1075 if you eliminate the low pressure by-pass you don't have enough pump at idle to make pressure without increasing pump speed.

I have the dart piston oiler option on my motors, also run spring oilers. I run a titan wet sump pump. 40 lbs at idle 80 lbs at wot. No problems at all.

The jets are supplied with .026" holes however can be drilled to .040". Most begin with the .026" jets and after the 1st rebuild; begin going up on the hole size. There is a slight pressure loss/flow increase; but the benefits outweigh the detriments.
found this on speedtalk.

Yes a 1075 would make the smart craft un happy with out the spring ball.
