Default BW trans question

We were sidelined at the races this weekend. Trans wouldn't make pressure. We changed the fluid and there was nothing in the cooler. Does the pump draw fluid from the sump or the lower cooler line? I don't think my cooler is plugged as I blew them out before assembly. The transmissions are Huber 925's, new.

I am fairly sure that it pulls from the sump and then goes to the pump. We had that same problem with one and it turned out to be a loose pump up in the front. Easily seen to be a problem as it leaked like crazy!!! I would give Huber a call however and ask him. Sorry it did not work out for you down there

Dan, it could be the check valve Huber uses. We don't use one, I think it causes more problsme than it solves. What you describe could also be that the pump is set up for the wrong engine rotation. Another one that I have personaly done in one of my more zoned out moments is leaving the drive plate out. Hate it when that happens!

Mark, I think I pitched the check valve. Tom said its for the cooler and even if its in backwards it would still pump. If the pump is in reversed, does it make no pressure at all? I'll be yanking it out tomorrow. The pump arrow must be up and pointing right when you're facing it,yes? Thanks

Yep, that is correct for standard engine rotation. True on the checkvalve, a stuck one will cause increased line pressure and no flow through the cooler. It won't keep the pump from pumping.

Is there a chance someone switched the pump?

Marc, just a quick update. The trans is out and the arrow was pointing left, or in the opposite rotation on the engine. I rotated the pump so its now pointing right, or in the rotation of the engine. Thought I'd run it by you before I put it back in tomorrow. Dan
