Ahhhh I remember there was a Service Bulletin about the jist of it. I found it in the Volvo dealer listings. I can NOT post it thru Volvo's page.

I did find the jist of the service bulletin = SB and no pun intended SB. The fuel harness has to be used and like I said run it down to your fuel pumps and connect the male / female connectors correctly - like I said unplug them and then you can figure them out. to which plugs into what.

SB below (and not you SB). The fuel pump harness is not used on the big blocks but is for the small blocks and 4.3 L for WT and EF Volvo models - you have the EF Volvo. Jeepers about time.

DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE IAT sensor and that plug in.

Ok I'm going to map that harness tonight to see what it does and where it goes. Do you know what it's for?

I couldn't get the oil pan to drop down even a bit. The dam thing is stuck on good with rtv. And the straps support it well.

I guess I'll just force it back together for now, finish diagnosing it, then pull the motor for the leak.

Here's the thing, I mapped the y harness. It connects to the fuel pump connectors, then taps into the 12v supply to the fuel pumps, and bridges it over to the other fuel pump, then back to the ECM.

So I followed that path with an ohm meter, and came up with this pin on the J1 terminal.

According to the Priate 4x4 mefi IV diag manual, this pin isn't active in mefi 4 Apps. so what does this pin do? And why does it need 12v?

I can't test that, and the newly located ground till the engine is back together thoigh.

I had limited resources being at my boat, and I needed to see the mefi IV pinout diagram. I didn't expect it to be different for a boat. I'll look at the volvo one today. Need to see what that pin does, so I know what 12v is being applied to from the fuel pump harness

Okay so I am confused as to what pin I am pointing at in that picture.

Here is the MEFI IV pinout front the Volvo Penta MEFI training manual included in my Rinda tool.

This is the pin on the J1 connector that the fuel pump Y harness is sending 12 volts to.

The Y harness male side connects to either of the engine fuel pump harness power supply connectors (they both come from the same wire). Then the female Y connector plugs into one of the fuel pumps. This effectively taps into the 12v power source, and send its to the pin I am pointing at on the J1 harness.

I just cant determine if I am reading the pinout diagram right. I think it looks like pin # 32, but the VP pinout diagram doesn't show 32 as a used pin. Wtf?

For the MEFI IV

j1-32 shows nothing is there
j2-32 shows cam sensor

Earlier MEFI's have different things hooked in these 2 locations
