Default 502 pistons

I have a 502 efi Mag im looking for a stock style oversize forged piston for a rebuild/refresh Je would not sell me that piston and was told I had to go through mercury I am not set on Je what and where is a good option on this motor

IDK why JE would have told you that, a very popular option that has been done many times is JE makes a piston where if motor isnt too tore up you can have it tq plate honed .004 and drop these in, the weight is so close it has been done without even re-balancing the motor before https://www.jepistons.com/Products/281916.aspx

It also use std sized rings instead of the stupid expensive metric rings, I have personally used these myself with good results, Smitty

Thanks I looked at that option and that is what got me to give them a call the would not tell me much when I said I had a je700 he told me merc paid for the r+d and I would have to get from them. I got a little rust on the cylinder walls due to a manifold riser leaking it might clean up

We have used the piston set Smitty listed on several 502 Merc builds with a fair amount of rust pitting caused by manifold leaks and they have cleaned up every time, just ordered a set today.
